Thankful for Who He Is

As we continue Week 2: A Thankful Heart, today we’re looking beyond the blessings God gives us and turning our attention toward the One who gives them.

📖 “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:” — Psalm 92:1 KJV

So often when we think about gratitude, we begin listing the things God has given us.

We thank Him for our homes, families, food, answered prayers, provision, health, opportunities, and countless everyday blessings.

And we should.

But today, let’s ask a different question:

What if God gave us nothing else—would He still be worthy of our praise?

The answer is yes.

🤎 Thank Him for Who He Is

Thank Him because He is holy.

Thank Him because He is faithful.

Thank Him because He is merciful.

Thank Him because He is righteous.

Thank Him because He is our Creator.

Thank Him because He loved us enough to send His Son.

Our gratitude should not depend solely upon what is happening around us. Circumstances change. Seasons change. What we have today may be different tomorrow.

But God does not change.

That means even in a season when the blessings are harder to see, we still have reason to praise Him.

🍁 Sunday Reflection

Before asking the Lord for anything today, spend a few moments simply praising Him.

Instead of saying:

“Thank You, Lord, for what You have given me…”

begin with:

“Thank You, Lord, for who You are.”

Then name the attributes of God that have become especially precious to you.

Maybe today you need to remember His faithfulness.

Maybe His mercy.

Maybe His patience.

Maybe His power.

Maybe simply the truth that He is God.

As another week approaches, may we carry a thankful heart with us—not only because our hands have been blessed, but because our God is worthy of praise.

🍂 Thank Him for His blessings.
Thank Him for His goodness.
But most of all, thank Him for who He is.
