Look Back and Remember Where God Has Carried You
Welcome to another week with Goodies and the Gospel™.
This week’s theme is:
Remember His Faithfulness
There’s something special about an old handwritten recipe.
The faded ink. The worn edges. The little notes written in the margin. Maybe it belonged to your grandmother, your mother, or someone else whose kitchen holds precious memories.
We keep those recipes because they remind us of something worth remembering.
And in our walk with the Lord, remembering matters, too.
đź“– “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee…” — Deuteronomy 8:2 KJV
🤎 Look Back for a Moment
When we’re facing something uncertain, our attention naturally turns toward what’s ahead.
What will happen?
How will this work out?
What am I going to do?
But sometimes the encouragement we need for tomorrow is found by remembering yesterday.
Look back.
Remember the prayer God answered.
Remember the provision that came at just the right time.
Remember the season you thought you’d never make it through.
Remember the door He opened—or the one He closed.
Remember the strength He gave you when your own strength was gone.
Remember how He led you when you couldn’t see very far ahead.
You may not understand everything happening today, but you’ve already seen evidence of God’s faithfulness.
🍂 Remember All the Way
Deuteronomy 8:2 says:
“Thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee…”
Not just the easy parts.
All the way.
Even some of the difficult roads become precious when we look back and recognize how faithfully the Lord carried us through them.
đź“– Today’s Reflection
Take out your journal and write down:
3 times God has been faithful to you in the past.
Beside each one, write:
“The Lord carried me then, and I can trust Him now.”
Keep that page.
Someday, when another difficult season comes, return to it and remember.
Just as an old family recipe can carry memories from one generation to another, may we also be faithful to tell the next generation about what God has done.
Tell your children.
Tell your grandchildren.
Tell someone sitting around your table.
Remember His goodness.
Remember His provision.
Remember His leading.
Remember His faithfulness.
The God who carried you then is still worthy of your trust today. 🤎
